Finance

The Skerne and Wansford Parish Council adheres to the Transparency Code for Smaller Authorities 2015: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/transparency-code-for-smaller-authorities

Funding

The parish council must prepare an annual budget that covers expenditure for the forthcoming year and request
the amount needed from the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, this is know as the parish precept.
The amount that each household within the parish contributes can be seen on your annual council tax bill
that is issued by the local authority.

Harmony Energy Community Fund Contribution Agreement

In November 2021 the parish council signed a Community Fund Contribution Agreement with the solar power company Harmony Energy. This will provide the parish with an additional £10,000 of funding annually; the first payment was received in January 2022 and will continue until January 2042.

The fund is not to be used for the annual expenditure of the parish council but for projects that aide community cohesion
and improve the environment for everyone who live in and visit the villages. To date projects have included a new website and social media presence that complies with the government’s Website Content Accessibility Guidelines that came into force in September 2020, the villages’ Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations and the new Wansford bus shelter that
commemorates King Charles II coronation.

If you have any ideas for projects for which the funds could be used please contact the parish council
or come along to one of the meetings.

Nafferton Foeffees

The Nafferton Foeffees is a Charitable Trust that covers the ecclesiastical parish of Nafferton, Wansford and Pockthorpe.
It has provided grants to young people in Wansford to help them pursue their studies and has more recently contributed to the cost of the new Wansford bus shelter. More information can be found here: https://www.feoffeetrust.co.uk
